Description
Built and designed by a St. John artist, Aerie is as much an aesthetic delight to explore as it is to stay in. Nested among a lush garden Aerie is exquisitely detailed with intricate stonework and enough gingerbread woodwork to make any Victorian proud. Aerie is eclectic luxury at every turn. It features original works of art by the owner and a great collection from here and abroad, state of the art appliances, orchids and plants from around the world, and finished off with overstuffed furniture and quality linens.
Aerie, a 6 year labor of love, was designed by local artist and long time St. John resident Kat Sowa. Kat partnered with Dave Thompson in 1996 and with Dave's help Aerie was completed in 1998. Built by Kat, Dave, their family, and friends from foundation to handmade woodwork details, Aerie is a eclectic mix of Victorian and West Indian aesthetics. Kat's love of art and architecture has inspired her to fill Aerie with art, sculpture, and fine handicraft from all over the world. Aerie is a family owned and operated villa, managed by her daughter, Shanna.
A charming romantic retreat, created in the spirit of the West Indies, hidden high on a mountain at the center of St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands, America's Paradise. Aerie is a private, secluded villa only 5 minutes from the sandy North Shore beaches of the Virgin Islands National Park and boasts breathtaking views of the valley below, and surrounding mountains, with a westerly waterview and a stunning sunset over St. Thomas and surrounding islands.
The Master Bedroom suite is like a tree house for grownups. Appointed with antique mahogany furniture and soft chairs, featuring a "captain style" queen bed built up and in for a unique, cozy sleeping experience and a personal TV/VCR/DVD at your feet for an evening in. There is also a half bath located next to the bedroom for your convenience.
Across the breezeway from the Great Room sits Aerie's spacious kitchen cottage with enough equipment for a gourmet feast or just to microwave a snack and blender a colada. Dine on the covered deck just off the kitchen or choose the Great Room for an intimate candle light dinner. We take pride in our kitchen equipment, from sharp knives to fine stemware. |
