Description
Welcome to Yellow Bird. Yellow Bird is a spacious one bedroom house with open plan living and dining areas, perched above the southern end of Oualie Bay, in a mature half acre hillside garden.
There are magnificent views across the "Narrows" to St Kitts, which can be enjoyed from all over the garden and even the interior of the house, but in particular from the wide front balcony.
Decks to either side of the house can be accessed from the bedroom and living and dining areas, providing al fresco meal times and afternoon shade. There is a lower pool deck leading from the south deck with a 15ft x 15ft (4.5m x 4.5m) square pool, and a few steps down to a barbecue and the remainder of the garden.
Yellow Bird is well furnished and decorated and accessorised in gentle Caribbean hues and patterns. There is a fully equipped kitchen with a gas stove, refrigerator, toaster and coffee maker. There is ample cookware, crockery and utensils etc. A deep freezer and washing machine are located in the utility room.
The bedroom has a king size bed and a ceiling fan. An antique Dutch bed can be placed in the living room to provide sleeping accommodation for a further adult or even two young children.
The bathroom has a large walk in shower and closet.
The windows and door bases all have adjustable wooden louvres, enabling cross ventilation. The louvres all have mosquito netting to the exteriors.
There is a CD player / radio and lots of holiday reading available. There is also a telephone. Local calls including calls to St Kitts are free of charge to guests.
Yellow Bird is looked after by a local manager, who meets all guests at Newcastle airport, a five minute drive away. Guests are shown around the house and welcomed to Nevis. We provide a few basic groceries for your arrival by way of tea, coffee, sugar, milk, bread, butter and eggs.
Our maid visits the house three times a week. She attends to linen changes, household laundry and general cleaning. Cooking, personal laundry and babysitting can be arranged on a private basis, directly with the manager.
The pool is cleaned twice weekly by Caribbean Pool Services. |

Activities and Attractions |
Sporting and leisure facilities on Nevis include golfing at the Nevis Golf Club and the larger 18 hole golf course at the Four Seasons Hotel; a P.A.D.I. dive school and shop on Oualie Beach; windsurfing, sunfishsailing and mountain bike hire, also on Oualie Beach; horseriding at the Nevis Equestrian Centre at Clifton Estate; organised walks and hikes with Top to Bottom (it is even possible to join a nocturnal stargazing walk!); enjoying the beautiful horticulture of the Botanic Gardens of Nevis at Montpelier Estate; exploring the historic sites of the island such as the deserted, but strangely almost intact sugar processing works at the New River Estate, and then of course there is all the casual walking, hiking, swimming, snorkeling and sunbathing that anyone could possibly wish for!
Nevis is very much quieter and less tourist dominated than other larger islands in the Caribbean. It therefore does not have a particularly organised nightlife. No clubs, no discoteques, no casinos, no themed bars or restuarants. What it does have are simple bars and impromptu party nights with islanders and visitors all happily mixing together. Dining out can be as varied as possible. From local dishes made by vendors and stall holders by the harbour, courtyard cafes, beachside restaurants and gourmet dining at the plantation house restaurants. |
