Description Les Alizes is a contemporary, delightful villa with views straight out to sea. It offers peace and quiet, and is the perfect place for an escape. Named by its first owner the French Canadian folk singer, Giles Vigneault, Les Alizes means 'sea breezes' and these naturally cool the villa. With three bedrooms, two bathrooms and its own swimming pool it offers the perfect restful, getaway-from-it-all space. It is placed in 0.8 of an acre with mature mahogany and casuarinas trees and hedged with red hibiscus and white orange-blossom scented jasmine. The sea is visible from the house and pool area and sunsets in the west glow through the trees. The front entrance to the villa from the semi-circular driveway provides views of the rainforest covered central mountains. The house is of concrete construction, painted in contemporary colours with a red shingle roof. Internally the rooms are painted in whites, creams and blues. Sandy coloured tiling throughout provides coolness for the feet! The main body of the house is entered through the front door which opens into a large lounge area with a fully fitted white kitchen alongside. There is a bathroom and two bedrooms (master and single, both with ceiling fans) on this floor. They both have windows which look out onto the pool and garden. There is lots of storage space with built-in wardrobes. The lounge has a double sofa-bed, smaller chairs, writing table, telephone, CD player/radio, cable TV and remote controlled fan. The kitchen has a dishwasher and ceiling fan. The lounge has a set of glass doors that form the fourth wall and open right out onto the covered veranda which is the dining area. This flows out on to the large tiled deck with BBQ area and the swimming pool. There are steps down from the deck area to the garden. At garden level there is the third bedroom which is a double, with its own bathroom, sitting space and outdoor patio area in the garden. On this level, but tucked away around the corner is the utility room with washing machine and drying area. Les Alizes is situated in Old Towne and is less than a five-minute stroll to the Vue Pointe Hotel which offers excellent quality meals, a bar and a range of evening entertainments. From the hotel, or on the short walk to it, you get spectacular views of the distant but dramatic and awe-inspiring Soufriere volcano which has been active since 1995. There is a volcanic observatory on island and you can take visits to see the mountain in all its impressive glory close up. Les Alizes is a 15-minute walk away from the longest beach on the island, Old Road Bay, a perfect place to watch the Caribbean sunsets. A 5 minute drive away there are the smaller, secluded beaches of Lime Kiln Bay and Woodlands, both with soft volcanic sand and clear blue waters. All beaches face west and allow excellent views of the islands of Redonda and Nevis. The nearby Montserratian village of Salem has a supermarket, rum shops, a range of restaurants and gives you the chance to 'lime' Montserratian-style on Friday nights. Montserrat offers a range of activities for the holiday maker: walking trails; scuba diving and snorkelling; night life activity in 'Festival City'; a range of eating places to sample local and other Caribbean delights; a wonderful local library for the avid reader; a gym; internet cafe; and the chance to meet some of the friendliest people in the Caribbean who don't hassle but are genuinely friendly.
