Great Guana Cay - Bahamas On the Ocean side of Great Guana you will find, possibly the longest ocean beach in the Abaco's, it is about 5˝ miles long and is protected from the ocean by the reef just 75 yards offshore. This reef, is part of the third longest barrier reef in the world and it produces fantastic snorkeling with its abundance of brightly colored fish and marine life. And on a good day, when the swell is up on the Atlantic Ocean outside the reef, it will produce great surfing waves to play in. At the northern end of the island overlooking the sea of Abaco is Bakers Bay, Bakers bay is famous for its beautiful long crescent shaped white sandy beach. This is where in the early ninety’s a resort was built by the Disney Corporation to accommodate people from their large cruise ships. For some reason known only to the powers to be, they suddenly departed the island leaving everything behind. It is an eerie experience today to walk amongst the remains of this decaying ghost resort, a resort that is being gradually taken back by the forest from when'st it came.
Today the island has many other attractions for the visitor, one in particular is Nippers Beach Bar and Grill, Nippers has become famous for their Sunday Pg Roast Party. The party is a not-to-be-missed event in these parts attended by people from the entire Abaco Islands every Sunday afternoon. We make sure you're there on Sunday to enjoy the big party – Abaco Islands style! Map of Great Guana Cay - Abaco
